This is part 2 of our 3 part series on Estate Planning for airline pilots nearing the end of their career. Today’s conversation is about the specific documents you need before you retire.
Kevin and Charlie outline the documents attorneys recommend and where to get them. They discuss:
✓ Durable Power of Attorney
✓ Last Will & Testament
✓ Living Will
✓ Be Sure to Review Your Beneficiaries
If you work for the airlines there is a good chance your employer may offer estate planning services and can prepare these documents for a reduced payment or maybe even free!
Even though you can pick up a template at your local office supply store, we highly recommend that you hire a professional to prepare your forms. We recognize that it can be costly but the ultimate goal is to be sure the documents are good enough to hold up in court in order to streamline the process for your family and to eliminate even more costly legal expenses later on.
